Video: Oregon Ducks Honor Troops at Spring Game

By Adam Kramer   May. 03, 2011

Although the Patriotic feel has perhaps never been much higher since the president announced that Osama Bin Laden had been shot and killed, Chip Kelly and his Oregon Ducks spent their entire Saturday prior to this unbelievable event honoring the troops in the form of their spring football game. Chip Kelly has visited both Iraq and Afghanistan, and has since made it a point to celebrate these hardworking individuals whenever possible after coming back home.

Oregon first honored the armed forces by wearing unique jerseys in the actual game itself. Now, interesting threads are nothing new for the Ducks, but their spring game unis took on a much different look and meaning (seen above). The white team’s jerseys had “Land Of The Free,” on the back, while the green team’s jerseys had “Home Of The Brave” where their names would be.

The Ducks didn’t just show their support on the field, however. After the game, Chip Kelly spoke to his team along with members of the armed forces in the locker room and they also sang the Oregon fight song as a group. If this video doesn’t give you chills, I don’t know what will.
