Buckeye Expectations: The Oddsmakers Set The Bar

By Adam Kramer   Dec. 01, 2011

With Urban Meyer at the helm, the excitement surrounding Ohio State is building and expectations are high in Columbus. For many, it’s not a matter of if but instead when OSU will dominate the Big Ten.

Oddsmakers are wondering this question as well. And before the 2011 regular season officially comes to a close, you already have the opportunity to wager on how Ohio State will fare in 2012.

Bodog, one of the world’s largest online sportsbooks, has opened up betting on whether or not Ohio State will win the Big Ten next season. They’ve also established a win total number. Although they don’t like their chances to take down the B1G in Urban’s first season, they’ve set the bar at 9.5 wins, which will likely be near the top in the Big Ten.

Will Ohio State win the Big Ten in the 2012-13 Season?

Yes 2/1

No 1/3

Over 9.5 (-110)

Under 9.5 (-130)

And that’s not all.

Bodog is also taking bets on Jim Tressel’s 2012 plans, and are taking wagers on whether or not he will be a head coach next season. Interesting to see that the oddsmakers do feel Tressel will have the vest on somewhere in the college game as “Yes” is a solid favorite.

Yes 1/2

No 3/2

While we can’t recommend wagering on 2012 expectations in December, the option is all yours.
