The dream of SEC hackers was too good to be true.
Although it was speculated that LSU’s official online merchandise store was hacked late last night, CNBC’s Darren Rovell has stated that this was indeed a “human error.”
Late Sunday evening, www.lsushop.net featured Alabama gear front and center (screenshot above) and it was clear that something was definitely wrong. Was LSU REALLY embracing this whole Game of the Century: Part Two thing? Perhaps the SEC was a silent harbor for some of the nation’s best computer hackers? WAS IT AN INSIDE JOB?!
The Conspiracies began to surface, but it turns out (so we’re being told) that LSU Shop wasn’t hacked but instead suffered an untimely gaffe. The company that runs the site also runs other merchandise sites as well, so they likely just got their HTMLs crossed. I imagine this will result in a fun Monday conference call.
Regardless, this created quite a stir for those that were awake at this time, and many are wondering how something like this could happen. It’s fixed now, but Alabama had their say for the better part of Sunday night. For story’s sake we’d still love to lean on the hackers angle, because the thought of a group of Alabama hackers is, well, awesome.
