Team Ratings revealed for NCAA ’14 on Tradition Sports

By Adam Kramer   Jun. 11, 2013

No, YOU’RE spending the entire day providing rating updates on a video game. OK, fine, maybe you’re not. But the fine folks at Tradition Sports are providing important NCAA ’14 tidbits while at E3, and we’re relaying the video game goodness because we care more than we should.

It started with the release of the top 15 players overall – aka CLOWNEY DOT CHEAT CODE – and now we’ve moved on to the always popular team ratings. SPOILER ALERT: Alabama is perfect, like, literally perfect. You are not allowed to play with them in online ranked play, because just don’t.

Seems pretty fair to me. Not to hate on them, I realize they recruit incredibly well, but Texas at a 93 seems pretty overrated. Can anyone that watched Texas last year, or project them going into this year, say they’re a 93 if Georgia is a 91, and Florida is a 90?

    3. Jordan Ray
      6/11/13

TCU has a lower ranked defense than Baylor. Did these guys watch any Big 12 games last year?

    4. BigTex'sAshes
      6/11/13

Wait… so Alabama has a better offense than Texas A&M? And Texas has an offense as good as A&M, better than Baylor, and a better overall ranking than Texas A&M? I’m a Texas fan and this confuses me….

    5. John Denny
      6/11/13

UT ‘s rankings… umm yeah that makes no sense, above Baylor, Okie State, Arizona tied with A&M… yeah about that. If they even sniff the Top 10 in total offense I will smoke my shoes.

      ————————————
      Statistics

      Total Offense NCAA 2012

      1 Louisiana Tech
      2 Baylor
      3 Texas A&M
      4 Oklahoma St.
      5 Oregon
      40 Texas

      3 OKLAHOMA ST

      5 OKLAHOMA
      54 Texas

North Carolina being rated a 91 has to be a joke, right?

    7. Aggie Aggie Aggie, OY OY OY
      6/11/13

UTah State should be around 84. Top 10 defense last year, top 20 offense, returning 15 starters, entire OL, heisman watch list QB, ridiculous ratings.

    8. 6/11/13

Lol @ Michigan State’s offense being a 90. Defense is better than a 93 but their offense is like a 78. Wow

    9. saxman
      6/11/13

Was EA high when they put together UT’s ratings? What a joke

    10. Ryan
      6/11/13

Why is Texas ranked so high? Why is Oklahoma’s offense rated so high? And how is it possible to have Penn State at an 84 and Iowa at 88? Did EA even watch that game? Not to mention the big recruiting gap between those two teams

    11. 6/11/13

Hahah I’m a Virginia tech fan but they aren’t a 91 offense. Also I counted teams ahead of them and vt is tied for 4th…. They better get that ranking on the game then

    12. 6/11/13

Also me the vt fan, I’m different than the other Ryan who made the post about Oklahoma Texas penn st and iowa

    13. Will
      6/11/13

So North Carolina are two touchdown underdogs in their opening game at South Carolina and are rated a point higher?

      Okay, buddy.

    14. Hugh g rection
      6/11/13

Why in the hell is would Utah state have an 84 @aggie they don’t play ANYBODY. Same with Ohio state…

    15. Jake
      6/11/13

They only base the ratings off of the overall individual ratings. That’s why Texas is high. They have good talent, so the game reflects that. It doesn’t reflect the actual “effectiveness” of the team.

      6/12/13

Ok State defense is 92…. same as the #1 overall defense last year Florida and higher than South Carolina with this guy named Clowney. Ok State… Big 12… exactly how much crack do you have to smoke before you say “yeah that seems right” I understand that its the overall combination of perceived talent but last I checked there aren’t any five star defensive ends or safeties or linebackers ever landing in Stillwater.

    20. Brandon
      6/12/13

They rated the 11 win and 2 loss, 16th ranked Utah State Aggies the same as Wyoming, Troy and Tulane. Combined those three teams won 11 games last year.

Meanwhile Colorado, Kansas, Boston College, Illinois, Kentucky & Auburn are all rated ahead of USU, some of them wayyy ahead. Those SIX teams combined also won 11 games last year.

Huh? Guess who isn’t buying a copy of NCAA, that had originally planned on it, this year.

    21. 6/12/13

Wow. Once again, Texas has a higher ranking than Texas A&M. This even after A&M killed the competition in the SEC and was only outscored in it’s two losses by a total of 8 points. How Texas gets ranked at all event when they suck is a mystery to me.

TCU ranked 84… That’s awful especially compared to Baylor and UT who the Frogs
Killed last year with half the team hurt. I guess when TCU beats LSU by 17 in the opener
They will notice they are stupid. Also, lets hope EA gets the actual fight songs right
This year as they screwed up TCU, UT and lots of other schools of note. Also,
Lets hope teams can’t cheat by squib kicking and recovering kick offs which is very
      Unrealistic.
Frogs are way under rated. Pachall best QB in Big 12, best defense and loaded.
Watch and see after they beat LSU

    26. Melvin H
      6/12/13

Rutgers is an 84 overall and the offense is an 86 and defense an 82? EA needs to fix this. There are a lot of teams, because of there prestige, are ranked way to high. Alabama all 99? They are good but really? I don’t even wanna buy the game now

In in shock on how Auburn is the same rank as Nebraska.. A 2-10 team with no recruiting class, compared to a team that went 10-2 in the regular season with a top 20 recruiting class. C’mon EA.

    30. TW
      6/24/13

@Christian, actually Auburn was 3-9, and almost beat LSU, Clemson, and Vandy (all teams, except maybe Vandy, that would’ve manhandled Nebraska). Also, based on Rivals.com recruiting rankings, Auburn comes in at the #8 2013 recruiting class, which is well above Nebraska at #17. Get your facts straight.

    31. Xavier
      6/25/13

You guys are idiots im a huge texas fan. You dont realize we have carrington byndom. Quandre diggs. Jeffcoat and jordan hicks all coming back on our defense. Look how many Georgia and florida lost on defense. And to be honest. A&M defense really didnt impress me their offense was just great

    32. Kaleb
      6/28/13

Cincinatti is way Underated an 81 are you kidding just look at some of the teams that are higher than them Boston College? South Florida? Purdue? Tennessee? that is a big problem if your a Cincy fan they consistently are at the top of the Big East. Also two teams that finished the season ranked are not even a 74 Kent State, and Louisiana Tech, and yet teams like Kentucky, Wyoming, UTEP, and Tulane have higher ratings, One more thing Iowas finished 5-7 last year and they have the same overall as Nebraska, Wisconsin, and UCLA. Their is alot of other problems with the ratings too Akron is a 63… They would easily beat these higher ranked teams, Memphis, Old Dominion, Texas State, UAB, and UTSA. Its a little ridiculous

    33. Texas True
      6/30/13

As a true texas fan.. 93 is a bit high but consider this… They are returning 19 starters this year. No top 25 predicted team is bringing that many of their boys back on the field. Honestly the whole season is dependent on no. 14 QB David Ash. I think he will deliver. HOOK ‘EM

    38. Aggie in Austin
      7/12/13

And all the talk I heard in Austin about them wanting to play A&M in a bowl game… but they were scared out of their pants when it almost happened last year for the Cotton Bowl. UT might be ranked highly because of the “talent” on the team – evidently they can’t coach well enough to make use of that talent. To all Texas fans… this is SEC country now, boys.
