Video: Denard Robinson’s Forgettable GameDay Throwing Performance

It was a wonderful weekend for the Michigan Wolverines.

Pretty much every recruit in the country – well, seven in all – verbally committed to play football in Ann Arbor in 2013, which gives them a significant head start over the Big Ten when it comes to the new recruiting season. Head coach/recruiting cyborg Urban Meyer is no doubt aware of this, and he’ll likely sleep 8 hours in the next 6 weeks to close the gap accordingly.

On top of pulling in a recruiting haul, the Michigan basketball squad, with the College GameDay crew in attendance, upset 6th ranked Ohio State on Saturday night. Everything is indeed coming up Hoke, well, except for this one thing.

Denard Robinson was the feature of a GameDay segment, and he was asked to lob footballs from long range in the hoop instead of basketballs. Granted, this looked far from easy, but this is also pretty much the most Denard Robinson throwing showcase ever. Arm Punts (and shots, and even Arm Layups) have no offseason.

If there was a Notre Dame defender in front of the basketball hoop, however, I imagine he probably would have sank at least half of these attempts.

  • Michigan’s New Sugar Bowl Threads

The Michigan Wolverines are celebrating their first BCS Bowl game in five years in rather exciting fashion. Or should we say, with some rather exciting fashion.

This week rumors began to swirl that the team would be wearing a special alternate road uniform for their Sugar Bowl game against Virginia Tech. On Tuesday, Michigan confirmed these rumors on whosay.com with a shot of their star player sporting the new look (right).

“We met with our seniors and showed them some concepts that were proposed by adidas and the mock-up is what they chose,” Michigan coach Brady Hoke said in a release. “This is a something the players enjoy and we thought it would be a nice way to commemorate our appearance in the Sugar Bowl.”

Earlier this year, Michigan wore adidas throwback uniforms for their first night home game ever at Michigan Stadium. Although these uniforms received mixed reviews, the outcome of that game worked out just fine for the Wolverines.

Each helmet on Michigan’s new Sugar Bowl uniform will have the player’s number (and classic Michigan winged look), but the team will be throwing on a grey face mask.

Virginia Tech, who’s no doubt still surprised and thrilled to be playing in this game following their blowout loss in the ACC Championship game, will wear their normal home unis for the game.

You may now begin overreacting to the latest wardrobe change in college football…NOW.

  • Video: Man Delivers Big House Game Ball Via Jet Pack

Jet packs, Elton John and Big Ten football: three of our favorite things.

On Saturday, the game ball for the Michigan/Purdue game was delivered to the Big House in high-flyin’ fashion. Eric Scott had the honors of delivering this important pigskin and did so by entering the stadium with a hydrogen peroxide jet pack strapped to his back. Better yet, the rocket man entered the building while “Rocket Man” was blasted over the PA system.

If only Big Ten football could be THIS exciting.

The performance went off without a hitch and we’d gladly support this becoming a regular ritual at Michigan Stadium. On a more selfish note, I now know what I want for Christmas.
