Michigan’s New Sugar Bowl Threads
The Michigan Wolverines are celebrating their first BCS Bowl game in five years in rather exciting fashion. Or should we say, with some rather exciting fashion.
This week rumors began to swirl that the team would be wearing a special alternate road uniform for their Sugar Bowl game against Virginia Tech. On Tuesday, Michigan confirmed these rumors on whosay.com with a shot of their star player sporting the new look (right).
“We met with our seniors and showed them some concepts that were proposed by adidas and the mock-up is what they chose,” Michigan coach Brady Hoke said in a release. “This is a something the players enjoy and we thought it would be a nice way to commemorate our appearance in the Sugar Bowl.”
Earlier this year, Michigan wore adidas throwback uniforms for their first night home game ever at Michigan Stadium. Although these uniforms received mixed reviews, the outcome of that game worked out just fine for the Wolverines.
Each helmet on Michigan’s new Sugar Bowl uniform will have the player’s number (and classic Michigan winged look), but the team will be throwing on a grey face mask.
Virginia Tech, who’s no doubt still surprised and thrilled to be playing in this game following their blowout loss in the ACC Championship game, will wear their normal home unis for the game.
