NFL Draft: Now Open For Betting

In need of some football action? Admit it, you are. If so, then look no further then placing your hard earned dollars on the NFL Draft.

Sportsbook has posted their initial NFL Draft odds, and you now have the option to bet on positions, players and even conferences as the draft is suddenly just a week away. Some initial thoughts just by looking at this – I hope Cam Newton likes the idea of being a Panther, there will a lot of 300-pound+ men being called early on, getting Patrick Peterson at anything below the 7th spot should be considering stealing, and the Pac 10 probably isn’t going to steal the show.

In any event, here they are.

How many quarterbacks will be taken in round one? Over 3.5 (-125), Under 3.5 (-125)

How many running backs will be taken in round one? Over .5 (-160), Under .5 (-130)

How many wide receivers/ tight ends will be taken in round one? Over 2.5 (-115), Under 2.5 (-115)

How many offensive lineman will be taken in round one? Over 6.5 (-160), Under 6.5 (+130)

What will Cam Newton’s draft position be? Over 1.5 (+130), Under 1.5 (-160)

What will Blaine Gabbert’s draft position be? Over 4.5 (-125), Under 4.5 (-105)

What will A.J. Green’s draft position be? Over 4.5 (-130), Under 4.5 (-105)

What will Julio Jones’ draft position be? Over 9.5 (-130), Under 9.5 (-105)

What will Patrick Peterson’s draft position be? Over 6.5 (-155), Under 6.5 (+125)

What will Jake Locker’s draft position be? Over 23.5 (-125), Under 23.5 (-105)

What will Mark Ingram’s draft position be? Over 32 (+115), Under 32 (-145)

What will Mike Pouncey’s draft position be? Over 17.5 (-115), Under 17.5 (-115)

Total SEC Players drafted in the 1st round? Over 8 (-160), Under 8 (+130)

Total ACC Players drafted in the 1st round? Over 5 (-125), Under 5 -105)

Total Big Ten Players drafted in the 1st round? Over 5.5 (-140), Under 5.5 (+110)

Total Big 12 Players drafted in the 1st round? Over 7 (+120), Under 7 (-150)

Total Pac 10 (12, whatever) players drafted in the 1st round? Over 3.5 (-115), Under 3.5 -115)

And my favorite: The last player of the draft, aka Mr. Irrelevant, will be an offensive player (-120) or a defensive player (-120)

  • Audio: Rob Rang Talkin’ NFL Draft

NFLDraftScout.com‘s Rob Rang once again stopped by Three Guys in a Garage to talk draft with the crew as we are suddenly just over a month away from the big day.

Rang shared his thoughts on a variety of topics including: Blaine Gabbert’s pro day and current draft status, how an NFL lockout has and will continue to impact the draft, a look at some of Iowa’s NFL prospects (raises hand, of course), and the latest on Jake Locker.

Thanks to the crew for having me on, and be sure to check out Rob’s updated NFL mock here.

  • NFL Draft: QBs Ace The Wonderlic

The numbers listed above are your Wonderlic scores for the top QBs in the 2011 draft class, and what it means, Chris Mortensen, is that the gunslingers listed are bound to be some of the greatest in the history of the NFL. No, it doesn’t mean that at all, but these scores are still rather impressive considering what some expected these QBs to score.

This test doesn’t involve reading a defense, moving in the pocket, or throwing a football so it’s somewhat irrelevant in the grand scheme. Just ask Dan Marino who walked away with a 15. I think he turned out okay. Still, this certainly won’t hurt any player who needed to avoid further character detriment.

-The consensus online opinion was that Ryan Mallett would struggle to break 15 with his Wonderlic and his 26 certainly sticks out most even though it’s nowhere close to the best overall score. Now, who will be the first to float “Ryan Mallett cheated while also burning an American flag” rumor?

-Cam Newton wasn’t expected to really thrive on this particular exam, and while a 21 doesn’t exactly scream genius under center, it’s good enough to alleviate any concerns someone who holds the test in high regard might have. Oh and he’s 6″5, 250 pounds, and could likely put a dent in a small house.

-If you bet that Jake Locker would cross the finish line last in this test, you probably made good money. Still, a 20 won’t kill his draft stock. It’s the whole completing passes regularly thing that many (including myself) still have questions about.

-Greg McElroy is really smart, y’all. (But you already knew that)

    -Andy Dalton. Red Hair. Representin’.
