Ohio State Players Honoring Tressel With “JT” Wristband

The Ohio State football team will embark on the 2011 season with a new head coach, but that doesn’t mean they’ve forgotten about Jim Tressel.

Tressel, who stepped down (if you want to call it that) from Ohio State back in May, is still being honored by players. Around Columbus, members of the Ohio State football team have been wearing “JT” wristbands (on right) to show their support for their fallen coach.

Although the team, fans and university have rallied around current head coach Luke Fickell, it’s an impressive gesture by the players nonetheless. It’s also a bit surprising that the university hasn’t put the kibosh on the entire exercise given the fact that they’ve actively tried to distance themselves from the situation.

Given how everything ended up, I doubt we’ll see any  Terrelle Pryor “TP” gear being worn by the team anytime soon.

Wristbands aside, freshmen officially report to camp on Saturday and the full team will be then be there on Sunday. Practice will begin on Monday, August 8th.
