Ohio State Players Honoring Tressel With “JT” Wristband

By Adam Kramer   Aug. 03, 2011

The Ohio State football team will embark on the 2011 season with a new head coach, but that doesn’t mean they’ve forgotten about Jim Tressel.

Tressel, who stepped down (if you want to call it that) from Ohio State back in May, is still being honored by players. Around Columbus, members of the Ohio State football team have been wearing “JT” wristbands (on right) to show their support for their fallen coach.

Although the team, fans and university have rallied around current head coach Luke Fickell, it’s an impressive gesture by the players nonetheless. It’s also a bit surprising that the university hasn’t put the kibosh on the entire exercise given the fact that they’ve actively tried to distance themselves from the situation.

Given how everything ended up, I doubt we’ll see any  Terrelle Pryor “TP” gear being worn by the team anytime soon.

Wristbands aside, freshmen officially report to camp on Saturday and the full team will be then be there on Sunday. Practice will begin on Monday, August 8th.

    1. Mark

They are actually just big Justin Timberlake fans…

    2. MF

Wher can the “casual” fan get on of these??

    3. 8/3/11

Who is paying for these – I hope it isn’t the tatoo parlor. Be done with him, he did nothing to be proud of. Sure the players liked him, who wouldn’t if they could drive a new(used) car every year. I work and can’t even afford to do that but, then again those football players deserve it, don’t they?

    4. John

The should all get tattoos of a sweater-vest.

    5. bucko

keep embracing the liar par excellence, ohio.

    6. [...] surprisingly, the wristbands are making their away around the blogosphere. While there are bound to be some jokes, I have no issue with Ohio State players honoring Tressel. [...]

    7. [...] As you saw on PGP’s Twitter feed yesterday, Ohio State players are planning on wearing black armbands with “JT” in big red letters on them in honor of former coach Jim Tressel. You gotta be shittin’ me- Kegs ‘N Eggs [...]

    8. BEN

Get over it. He messed up and payed for it. Stop crying.

    9. BEN

Get over it. He messed up and payed for it. Stop crying, and get ready for the season.

Nice. Honor a liar and a cheater. What’s next? Maurice Clarett Day? OSU is now officially a laughing-stock. So much for a storied tradition.

    11. Just wait till Auburn and Alabama get caught lets hear all those great SEC fans cry then. They will be saying Cam who? And Satin who ?

    12. Joe

“Satin”? … Are they investigating sheets now?

    13. Are you sure those aren’t “house arrest” ankle bracelets?

    14. John M.

What does this say? It says that Ohio State fans have a high lack of honor, and believe that what ever the team does is okay as long as they win! If you have to break the rules to win, you didn’t. This kind of thing is disturbing, maybe the NCAA should make them the second team with the “Death Penalty”.

    15. J Fith

Exactly what rules did they break that helped them win. Come on John M., think before you type.

    16. John B.

Absolutely no rules broken that helped them win on the field! No recruiting violations (…usc, auburn, oregon, lsu, etc), no education violations, no illegal activities whatsoever! Trading their own personal property for $ or merchandise is what they did. Cover it up is what Tress did and he paid for it. I wouldn’t have done it but to all out there…Go THE OSU BUCKEYES!

    17. Casey Blue

These ought to fetch a pretty penny on the resale market… five more games…
