Awards, Bowl Games and Championship Predicitons Via NCAA ’11

Over the next 7 weeks you’re going to listen to hundreds of experts and wannabe experts unveil their predictions for the 2010 college football season.

While everyone will certainly provide accurate and intelligent reasoning for the conference winners, bowl game matchups, and future award winners – there really is only one foolproof way to accurately predict how the season will shakedown.

NCAA Football 2011.

EA’s game is out and the homestretch to the start of the season is officially on. After toying around for a short while, I thought a 2010 season simulation was in order to accurately predict some the most important outcomes of the season.

WARNING: The following was an actual simulation and the results were not altered in anyway. The names and teams involved might cause seizures or at least a quick exit of this childish post.

Heisman Winner

HUH? Some of you are likely heading to Google, others probably are wondering why the hell they’re still reading this. For those still with us, you are reading this correctly. You’re 2010 Heisman winner is Arkansas junior receiver Greg Childs.

104 reception, 1788 yards, 19 touchdowns. Ship it.

Not bad considering he was 48, 897, and 7 the year before.

It makes sense. I mean, he is playing with Ryan Mallett who will finish 3rd in the Heisman voting. Mallett, by the way, ended up the 2010 campaign for 44 touchdowns and 8 interceptions. Impressive, but not good enough to surpass his teammate. Hog fans, we ain’t done with you yet.

Other Notable Award Winners and Stat Machines

Texas Tech QB Taylor Potts threw the most touchdowns (48) and was also your Maxwell and Davey O’Brien award winner.

Fun Fact: Boise State QB Kellen Moore through 44 touchdowns and 1 interception.

Temple running back Bernard Pierce led the nation in rushing with 1,713 yards. Pitt’s Dion Lewis was second with 1,591. The Hokies’ Ryan Williams led the nation in touchdowns with 17.

Florida Gators senior safety Ahmad Black took home the Thrope award. The Gators, by the way, ended up playing in and winning the Outback Bowl.

Go crazy, Notre Dame faithful! Your sophomore linebacker Manti Te’o was a menace. He took home the Bendarik and Nagurski trophies. YES! Unfortunately, however, Notre Dame finished 7-4.

Bowl Games and Your 2010 BCS Champion

How’d the BCS matchups end up? Well, for one, four teams finished the regular season undefeated. Those teams were: TCU, Boise State, Arkansas (yes, really), and West Virginia (yes, really really).

The other BCS bowl games went as follows.

Orange Bowl: TCU beat Miami 30-7.

Sugar Bowl: Oklahoma beat Boise State 34-10

Fiesta Bowl: Wisconsin beat Texas A&M 39-20

Rose Bowl: Oregon State beat Ohio State 18-12 (OT)

You saw the list of undefeated teams above and two of these squads have yet to be named. While many of you will probably struggle wrapping your mind around this matchup, NCAA ’11 would never lead you astray. Remember that.

Ladies and gentlemen, I give you your 2011 BCS Title game.

That’s right. It’s the matchup everyone has been waiting for. Your 2010 Heisman winner Greg Childs along with Jesus, QB Ryan Mallett against Noel Devine and a very average Big East team. ARKANSAS vs. WEST VIRGINIA – two giants enter, only one leaves.

Without further adieu, I give you your 2011 BCS Champion.

What else is there to say? The Hogs are title bound.

SUCCESS. – kegs n eggs
